DO YOU BELIEVE THAT A LEAK COULD BE PRESENT IN ONE OR YOUR LINES?
Our canines our highly trained and work with speed and accuracy.
WHY CONVENTIONAL LEAK DETECTION
WILL COST YOU TOO MUCH.
It’s generally unable to be determined precisely where in the line the leak has occurred. To find the source of the leak, oil companies have limited options. You could dig up the entire length of the pipe and physically check the entire line, but this method is time consuming and inefficient. Not to mention, on average oil & gas pipelines deliver around $2M a day in oil/gas. You could also use an infrared camera mounted on a helicopter. This special camera helps identify the leak as it penetrates the surface of the ground. This is a common method but very expensive. Companies can also use a mechanical device that is inserted into the pipe and scans for leaks internally. This machine crawls down the pipe at one to two miles per hour and can cost the oil company up to $60,000 per day.

HOW WE CAN HELP
When you suspect that a leak is present, a K-9 team is immediately dispatched to the location of the underground pipeline. Once on site, the technician introduces a proprietary chemical “odorant” into the pipeline. Once this is done, the K-9 team walks the length of the pipe. The K-9’s are trained to detect the odor the chemical emits. As the chemical travels the pipe, it escapes where the pipe is compromised. The odor seeps above ground, and the trained K-9 discovers the odor. Once the dog hits on the odor, the K-9 begins digging where the odor is rising from the pipe, thus alerting the handler to the exact spot of the leak. From here, your company can come in, unearth the pipe, and complete the repair. We’ll repeat the process again to check for any additional leaks on the line. This continues until the dog does not hit on the chemical odor after repairs have been completed.
With the ever changing EPA and DOT rules and regulations, VDK can also offer companies a comprehensive maintenance agreement to ensure that you lines are in compliance and leak free.
